Capacity and Facilities

AKAS Templers has a lot of features and capacity for hosting elite horse events (large & small) and Big Crowds.  Then around the Arena there is plenty of space to park the truck/float, setup camp, have a panel yard and use the amenities.  Our aim has been to ‘make it like we would want to use it’… easy, convenient and professional.

Rules & Regulations – Visitors

Ensure that you have signed the online waiver before entering the property. No entry and No Handling of horses until waivers are signed. If you have small children, they are to be supervised at all times, they are your own responsibility and require an “Risk Warning and Waiver of Liability” form signed for them.

Follow all posted signs, rules, and staff instructions. Do not use or enter any of the paddocks/yards or areas sectioned off, unless permission has been given by the club you are with or AKAS staff. Please respect AKAS Templers agistees, it is their horses home and personal property.

You are under 24hr surveillance while on AKAS Templers property for your safety and ours.

Gates are locked and you must abide by the arrival times that has been organised for your participation.

No tying horses to fences, gates, or panels that are not intended for that purpose. Use designated tie up areas only, otherwise – any damage that occurs to property or horse is your responsibility to replace, fix or pay for.

Consumption of alcohol or drugs is prohibited by law before or during your ride/lesson/handling horses, including professionals. There is no smoking near the agisted horses, communal areas (including the Arena) or inside any buildings, and if you do smoke please do not leave your butts on the ground, find a butt bin to dispose.

All riders must wear ASA approved Horse riding helmets when mounted at all times.

Only exceptions are:- if you are at AKAS Templers – riding under the insurance of a club (that has it own rules regarding helmets that differ to AKAS Templers) or your own instructors insurance allows you to not wear a helmet. A saddle and bridle must be used whenever riding, unless discussed with AKAS Templers or instructor prior, and the horse is deemed safe, and still then – it is at your own risk to ride bareback.

Camping at AKAS Templers is at your own risk and you are not to leave your horses here overnight while you are not here. All bookings are to be made confirmed and paid for, before your stay. Your belongings and your horse is your responsibility at all times. Wash bays are available to campers to use to hose done only, no full grooming allowed.

The Round yard and big paddock are available for you to ride in, however if you wish to use “The Dusty Range” Arena you need to have a booking or be riding within the booking your club has made that you are a member of.

Dogs –  are allowed, but MUST be on a lead all times and not to roam the property.

Cattle – If cattle are on the property, you must not engage with them unless you have been allocated with cattle handling duties. If cattle are being used for an event/clinic, an animal welfare person must be appointed, please discuss this with AKAS Staff. All cattle must be handled, transported, worked, and managed with respect, care, and in compliance with relevant animal welfare legislation and industry best practices. If AKAS Templers staff deem any behaviour dangerous or unkind, you can and will be asked to leave.

Stallions –  are not to be handled or ridden by anyone under the age of 18 years at any time.

Confinement rules are as per the NCCA (National Campdraft Council Australia) requirements (11.12).

Minimum stallion containment requirements

In daylight hours stallions must either: either:

1. Be double-tied. Stallions to have an exclusion perimeter erected around the horse and area they are tied to exclude any possible interaction between the stallion and another horse or human.

OR

1. Be enclosed by panels. Stallions can be free to roam inside the panel area when. an exclusion perimeter is erected around the panelled area, to exclude any possible interaction between the stallion and another horse or human. Only one horse allowed per enclosure. Panels must be a minimum of 1500 mm in height. Panels must be constructed using an equivalent of four bars of 25 mm box or pipe equivalent as a minimum. Panels must be anchored securely to a solid object, e.g. truck, post, or tree.

At night: The same rules apply to daylight hours with the additional requirement for a stallion that is in panels, must have at least one additional form of restraint, e.g. tied up, hobbles, sideline.

Please respect all property of AKAS Templers, leave all areas used, clean and tidy. All equipment must be packed away. All rubbish is to be placed in the bins provided. Ensure that the facility has been cleaned of all manure and hay and holes made by horses, filled, before you leave.

You must dispose of your horse manure and any hay waste, using the wheel barrows provided or bring your own bag to take it with you.

The facility is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen property, please check all areas before leaving.

Report any damage to property infrastructure and/or animals, and any safety issues that arise, to AKAS Templers staff member, immediately.

Arena closures for maintenance or weather will be posted in advance when possible. Respect all time limits and scheduled events. After-hours access is not permitted unless previously arranged.
